The Comment Delimiters

The comment delimiters are not really XHTML tags, but rather constructs defined by SGML. Nonetheless, no reference on HTML would be complete without them, so here they are.

Comments may not be nested. Since they're SGML primitive constructs, they may not contain all sorts of obscure sequences with special meanings, in particular, the double hyphen ("--").
